Veiled Inspirations

The Enigma of Creative Passion and Envy

Let's begin this topic with a story.

Claire, a very passionate pottery maker, has always loved clay art. Ever since she was a child, she would make little figures from playdough and display them on her little wooden shelf in her room. As she got older, she thrived in her art classes and even became the first teenager to create a pottery club in her high school. Her dream has always been to open up a pottery nook where she lives and teach those who want to get their hands dirty how to create unique and personalized pieces from the gifts provided by the earth - and that's exactly what she did!

Then there's Monica, someone who has always stayed close to Claire and admired her work. Monica not only observed but also became a bit obsessed with how Claire creates. She wondered how and why Claire gained so much recognition for something so tedious and seemingly did it effortlessly. Monica grew up never really interested in one specific thing and, like most kids, she enjoyed her youth free-flowingly. She was a child who was curious about so much but never settled on one desire. However, when Monica saw how Claire progressed, she felt off and wanted to have something as promising as her, so she set out to buy vintage pottery pieces from antique shops, thrift stores, and local venues. After some time, Monica created an eclectic art shop that sold unique creative pieces.

So what do you think of the two women's stories? What do you think of Claire and Monica? Take a moment to pause here and read into the energy of both women.

What is creative duplication?

Creative duplication can have two meanings; either one is inspired by the works of another and is prompted to add a unique and creative spin to an already existing idea, or one is jealous of the recognition of another and proceeds to mimic every step of a person's works/ideas. Creative duplication has both positive and negative outputs, determining a person's motives and energetic flow of creativity.

From a positive standing, one may initialize something that was already within, forcing a spark of intrigue and later leading them down a creatively flowing path toward something remarkable. On the other hand, from a negative creative energy, an individual might find themselves on a perpetual cycle of stuckness and always seeking external ideas to stay afloat. Unfortunately, this energy could never know the true essence and enjoyment of creativity.

So with the story of Claire and Monica, do you think there was a form of creative duplication? Do you believe it was a form of flattery, inconceivably jealous energy, or a lack of personal creative cultivation? Or some weird amalgam of all three?
