Have you ever found yourself pushing to the brink like a raging bull? Do you believe that moments of pause are essential for wellness? If so, how do you incorporate these moments of pause into your life?
This week, I was forced to take a moment to pause, recharge, and prioritize my emotional and mental well-being. But let me start from the beginning.
For the past few weeks, I have been diligently working on building AASH magazine. By the way, the latest issue is now available. However, through the joy of creating, I found myself shifting into a state of desperation due to a constant sense of impending doom. Desperation and creativity simply do not mix!
As some of you may know, I am slowly striving for personal stability, and to be honest, it can sometimes get to me that I am not where I want to be just yet. It becomes especially challenging when external factors energetically push you in a direction that doesn't align with your own spirit. I constantly battle with myself, torn between tolerating and feigning appreciation for what I'm given (a conversation for another day), or fully expressing how I truly feel from the depths of my being. To be more transparent, I sometimes feel trapped.
Since I no longer have a car, freely navigating the city has become more expensive and exhausting, believe it or not. I needed to find a meaningful outlet to express my growing frustration, allowing me to work on AASH from a place of the heart rather than fear and desperation. This is when I decided to sit and reflect.
The phrase "sometimes you have to go back to what was beneficial to propel toward the beneficial" resonated deeply with me. After thinking about this, I realized that there was something I completely veered away from since starting my journey here in Florida—the practice of personal pause.
Prior to leaving my hometown, pausing was an integral part of my daily routine. It involved a morning ritual consisting of workouts, yoga, writing, meditation, and more. It was a time when I connected with my own energy, releasing, replenishing, and holding space for myself in a way that honored my physical, emotional, mental, and energetic well-being.
Every day, I incorporated a combination of these modalities. Some days were as light as walking and writing, while others were more intense, involving meditation, kundalini breathwork, and Zumba. I even had a weekly pole dancing class!
These moments of self-care and pause laid the foundation for my day, empowering and invigorating me. They opened my mind to creative ideas and intuitive insights while providing balance for my energy and spirit. It was a form of mindfulness that helped me stay grounded even amidst the storms of life. This practice didn't mean ignoring or bypassing my emotions but rather gave me the strength to work through them with grace, vulnerability, self-compassion, and openness. It also aided in my healing journey and allowed me to dismantle and redefine old patterns.
Anyway, I decided to start slowly, reigniting some of these "beneficial" practices to fuel the next leg of my journey. I began this week with morning walks, reintroduced yoga into my routine, and even experienced a profound 10-minute meditation led by the wonderful Jassamyn Stanley of Yoga Journal.
Let me tell you, that meditation session allowed me to release so much from the previous weeks. It was intense and brought on tears of welcomed relief.
While we can't always control external factors, it's important to remember that finding balance and refuge within ourselves is only a pause away.

mmm k bye!💛
